Lawn Alternatives

These groundcovers grow low enough and are able to tolerate a fair amount of foot traffic, making them good candidates for a lawn alternative. Some can be mowed occasionally especially after they have bloomed (Chamomile or low growing Yarrow). Those that flower may attract bees when they are in bloom (such as Thyme) and care should be taken at that time to avoid being stung. Keep weeds from getting established while these lawn substitutes fill in and grow.
