House Plants for Low Light

Many indoor plants are adapted to growing in low light intensity, which is enough light to read by, but not close to a window. In general, plants that have variegated foliage or flowering plants are not suited for these conditions although there are a few exceptions. Low light situations might reduce a plants intake of water, reducing the need for frequent watering. Some plants will tolerate these low light areas temporarily but will start to decline after a while. Make sure you know your plant’s light requirement before you bring it home.
